Our farm is situated by Nord-Røssvatnet in Hemnes, Nordland in Northern Norway - or in the middle of Norway measured from south to north. The mountain ridge Okstindene with the glacier is rising to the north with beautiful valleys around it. The area has all kinds of landscape from steep mountain sides to low hills with many alternative routes for hiking.
How to get here?
There are airports in Mo i Rana and Mosjøen with several dayly departures for Bodø and Trondheim, and there is a railway station at Bjerka. On school days there is a local bus from Mo i Rana to Røssvassbukt. Transport can be arranged.
If you arrive by car from the north along E6, turn to the left in Korgen and drive towards Bleikvassli and from there to Røssvatnet/ Nymoen. Arriving from south, we recomend "Villmaksveien" (The road of wilderness). Turn to the right 5 km north of Majavatn towards Fiplingdal and Hattfjelldal - and continuing along the western bank of Røssvatnet to Bleikvassli.
Arriving on your own feet, Nordlandsruta (hiking trail from south to north) is passing 2 km east of Stekvasselv, and there is a hiking trail (14 km) across the border from Rønes in Sweden to Nord-Røssvatnet - a 5 hour easy walk.
At the video below you are invited to participate on a flight trip around Stekvasselv with the view of Røssvatnet and Okstindene in the background. Espen Jakobsen made this video with a HD camera from a model aircraft. Please enjoy!
